more life is sweet

vintage cupcake piece

I'm linking up another project over at Paper Issues for their Life is Sweet party.

For this project I painted an unfinished wooden plaque light blue and then added chocolate brown stripes.

Banners are a favorite of mine right now, so this project simply could not be complete without a few of those. Buttons are another obsession -- these are antique buttons that I scored at a great little shop on Main St.

Crafty Secrets has some wonderful vintage images. The little girl and cupcake are cut from one of their Heartwarming Vintage sheets. I made the crown out of some old Sassafras papers, a Prima flower, and puffy little circle sticker. The whole thing was spritzed with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and protected with Mod Podge. I finished off the project with some seam binding that I dyed to match the rest of the creation.

There are more than 100 projects linked up at this party so far! You should join in on the fun!

Here are a few more of my favorites:

life is sweet ... yes it is

The theme over at Paper Issues now through July 30th is Life is Sweet. I am so excited over this theme. I love scrappy things that are sweet-themed: ice cream, cupcakes, fruit, popsicles, the list goes on.

Here is my sweet layout, Lunch is Served (a layout of my little guy eating strawberries):

Fantastic projects have been linked up so far! Here a just a few of my favorites:

Don't forget to link up your project before the 30th.

Remember, your project doesn't have to be new to be linked up at our party. You can link up to older projects as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you next time!

ali edwards | week in the life

Click on the picture above to get a banner for your blog!

Are you planning on joining Ali Edwards for her Week in the Life project? It's only about two weeks away -- running from July 25th through July 31st.

In previous years, I have followed along and (ahem) stalked her blog to see all of the wonderful-ness. However, this year I am going to try very very hard to participate.

Ali is such an inspiration for me. The way she captures everyday life is something that I have been striving for, but haven't been able to achieve as of yet (in all these years). I'm getting there by joining in on the Project Life phenomena, but I'm not anywhere near where I want to be. At least I'm trying, right?

So... tell me: Will you be participating in Ali's Week in the Life this year?

project life ::: vol 1 | issue 2.5

This is going to be 1/2 of a Project Life post -- meaning I haven't been able to photograph my layout for the last two weeks yet, but I would like to share with you some photos that are contained in the layouts.

Week of June 13th:

me & jhon jhon

Me carrying my adorable adorable new nephew on the shore at Half Moon Bay. I used Ali Edwards' Sentiment Tabs on this.

anberly & starfish

Anberly is holding a starfish that she caught. She's getting ready to throw it back into the ocean.

johnny, adam, roxie @ beach

My brother, his son, and his chocolate lab, Roxie, at Half Moon Bay. My brother and his son are throwing a stick into the ocean for Roxie to fetch. She loved the ocean. Of course, what lab doesn't love to swim?

I used an element from Ali Edwards' Awakening 4x6 Overlay Collection.

alex & starfish

When we were ready to leave, we made the kiddos throw back all of their captured. Here, my nephew is collecting everything he caught to throw back. I used Cathy Zielske's Story Cards No. 03 to frame this photo.

my peonies

Some peonies that I love.

Week of June 20th:

This was a full week filled with a lot of family and a lot of fun.
